Steak or Pork Chop Dinner

Writer: Beth LeeBeth Lee

With frozen or fresh broccoli or salad on the side with a baked potato or steamed rice

Ingredients:

  • steaks or pork chops

  • 1 large baked potato or 1 cup of steamed rice per person

  • 1 bag of frozen broccoli or salad mix

  • Garlic salt or salt and pepper

  • Oil spray

Instructions:

  1. Start by preparing your rice or baking your potato according to your preferred method.

  2. While the rice or potato is cooking, prepare the frozen broccoli for steaming or the salad mix. Set the salad mix aside and do not toss with dressing until right before serving.

  3. Preheat a cast iron pan for about 4 minutes, or until hot. If using stainless steel, it will get hot faster.

  4. Spray the hot pan with oil and sprinkle the steaks or pork chops with garlic salt or salt and pepper on each side.

  5. Place the seasoned meat in the hot pan and sear for 3 minutes on each side. After each side is seared, flip it once every minute.

  6. Check the internal temperature of the meat after each flip using a meat thermometer. Refer to the temperature guide below for desired level of doneness.

  7. Once the desired temperature is reached, remove the meat from the pan and let it rest for 5 minutes on a plate while you finish preparing the veggies or salad.

  8. Serve the steak or pork chops with the baked potato or steamed rice and the steamed broccoli or salad mix.

Temperature Guide:

  • Rare: 120°F

  • Medium Rare: 130°F

  • Medium: 140°F

  • Medium Well: 150°F

  • Well Done: 160°F or higher

Enjoy your delicious and easy meal!
